Lancaster City 2 v Kendal Town 1
9th August 2008

In a match that was marred by persistent rain and the early sending off of Town's Lee Ashcroft, 10 man Kendal were denied by the heroics of Lancaster 'keeper Mark Thornley. Ashcroft got the "order of the early shower" when he retaliated after having his shirt pulled. Lancaster City had taken the lead in the 8th minute when Lee Hodgeson opened the scoring, but despite being down to 10 men Kendal Town leveled on 18 minutes from the penalty spot when Michael Cole scored past former Town 'keeper Mark Thornley. Lancaster City regained the lead however on 26 minutes when Aaron Helliwell fired home. Town had the majority of possession and chances in the second half but could not find a a way past the impressive Thornley. Big game coming up on Wednesday when the Black Cats look to pounce on Kendal at the Lakeland Radio Stadium. Then its on to the real thing next Saturday with the season opener away to Ilkeston.
